Kaumatua Health Days

Every second Wednesday here at Hokonui Rūnanga we hold a Kaumatua Health Day. We arrange a free pick up service for all the local Kaumatua in the Gore District who are clients with the Hokonui Rūnanga Health and Social Services Trust.

What do we do?

A typical day here at health day sees the clients having lunch, raffles, health promotions, and a time to korero with each other and then the beloved housie!!

We try our best to get a health service provider up every week to speak with the kaumatua about different health services that are out there and available to use. Health services include: Southland Hearing Association, Heart Foundation, Stroke Foundation, Age Concern, and Civil Defence.

We are very lucky to have Tarnya Johnson come along every week to help co-ordinate the day and run the wai-wai clinic.

Discounted hairdressing is available every 6 weeks. Contact us to find out more.

Dates for 2025
