Energy and Innovation Expo: 26-27 November 2024
Murihiku Regeneration, together with key partners and sponsors, held its 2024 Energy and Innovation Expo on 26-27 November in Invercargill.
The Energy and Innovation Expo series was made up of two days
- Tuesday 26th November - Wānanga Day 1
- Wednesday 27th November - Wānanga Day 2
The two days looked at:
- The future of the Murihiku-Southland region.
- Climate change, environmental decline, and a regenerative view of ‘sustainability’.
- Identifying and supporting the regional energy transition.
- Clarity on related regional innovation and opportunities.
- Identifying next steps and actions.

Creating a Regional response to challenges and opportunities
Murihiku-Southland is a region blessed with resources that can be utilised in a regenerative way to build a strong, confident, and bold future for our community. This event explores how we can utilise our resources to respond to the challenges of our time. The November 2024 Energy, Education, and Innovation Wānanga/Expo will focus on bringing together the key challenges and opportunities for Murihiku - Southland region to be considered for a future regional deal and priority action.
Our way forward must be deliberate, well-reasoned, and aligned with our collective aspirations. By participating in this wānanga, you can help contribute to the challenges of climate and economic disruption, and the development of effective physical and social infrastructure within the region.
