Te Tapu o Tāne is a native tree and plant nursery venture with a charitable purpose.
Te Tapu o Tāne represents the four Papatipu Rūnanga of Murihiku - Waihopai, Awarua, Hokonui, and Ōraka-Aparima.
The ikoa Te Tapu o Tāne means ‘The Sacredness of Tāne and his tamariki’ (the forest).
The purpose of the nursery is to grow and plant in quality native plants and to return the mauri of our whenua and awa. The aim is to do full scale catchment rehabilitation from a te ao Māori perspective.
“We are not just growing trees - we are growing OUR people… our community.”
