Red traffic light

Red

5 April 2022

Aotearoa is currently at Red in the Traffic Light System - however, there are now some changes:

  • My Vaccine Pass is no longer being used.
  • There is no requirement to scan in or for a business to display a QR code poster or have mandatory record keeping.
  • Government vaccine mandates have been removed for most of us (except for health/care workers, prison staff, and border workers).
  • There are no limits for outdoor activities, such as gatherings and events, and food and drink businesses.
  • There is a 200-person limit for indoor gatherings and events.
  • You do not need to wear a face mask outdoors.
  • Other face mask rules remain unchanged — face masks are still required in most indoor settings.

At Red, action will need to be taken to protect both at-risk people and protect our health system from an unsustainable number of hospitalisations. Face coverings are mandatory on flights, public transport, in taxis, retail, public venues, and recommended whenever leaving the house.
